Privacy Policy — Betty by OddsEven

The short version: We collect only what we need to run the service. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with third parties except where necessary to deliver the product. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@oddseven.ai.

1. Who we are

Betty by OddsEven is a product of OddsEven (Pty) Ltd, a South African registered company. We operate a betting analytics service delivered via WhatsApp and an online account portal.

2. What information we collect

Information you provide directly

Your name and phone number — collected when you sign up via our portal or contact us on WhatsApp. Your phone number is your primary identifier in our system.
Date of birth — collected at sign-up to verify that you are 18 or over. Required to use the service.
Payment details — processed securely by our payment provider (PayFast). OddsEven does not store your card details directly.
Bookmaker preferences — the bookmakers you use, provided optionally during onboarding to help Betty read your betslips accurately.
Sports preferences — the sports you follow and bet on, provided optionally during onboarding.
Monthly betting budget — if you choose to set a budget, Betty stores your monthly limit to enable the budget tracking feature. This is optional and can be updated or removed at any time.
Community data consent preference — your choice at sign-up as to whether your anonymised bet data may be included in the Betty community dataset. Default is off. Can be changed at any time in your account portal.
Betting slips and data you share with Betty — when you share a screenshot of a bet or describe a bet to Betty, that information is stored to generate your personal insights over time.
Conversation content — your WhatsApp conversations with Betty are processed to generate responses and are stored to enable the personal insights feature.

Information collected automatically

Usage data — how frequently you use Betty, which features you use most, and general interaction patterns. Used to improve the product.
Subscription status — your current plan, trial status and payment history.

3. How we use your information

To deliver the Betty service — logging and settling the betslips you send, responding to your questions about your own betting, running Sense Check™ reviews, and building your personal insights dashboard via Log it with Betty™.
To generate your personal insights — analysing your betting patterns over time to surface trends and provide your personal insights dashboard.
To produce community insights — only where you have opted in, your betslip data is anonymised and combined with that of other consenting users to show patterns across the Betty community. No individual user can be identified in this data, and you can withdraw your consent at any time in your account portal.
To manage your subscription — processing payments, sending renewal reminders, managing your account status, and making your personal insights dashboard available.
To improve Betty — understanding how users interact with the service to make it more useful over time.
To communicate with you — service updates, trial expiry notices, and product news. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

4. WhatsApp and third-party infrastructure

Betty operates via WhatsApp. When you message Betty, your messages are transmitted through WhatsApp's infrastructure and are subject to Meta's Privacy Policy in addition to this policy.

Betty's WhatsApp Business API is delivered through 360dialog, a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider. Messages you send to Betty are routed through 360dialog's infrastructure. 360dialog's privacy policy governs how they handle message data in transit.

Betty's AI responses are powered by Claude, developed by Anthropic. Conversation content is processed by Anthropic's systems to generate responses. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle this data.

Payments are processed by PayFast, a South African payment gateway. PayFast's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers — WhatsApp/Meta, 360dialog, Anthropic and PayFast, as described above, receive data only to the extent necessary to deliver their services.
Legal requirements — if required by South African law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of OddsEven or its users.
Business transfer — if OddsEven is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you if this occurs.

6. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and request deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymised, aggregated data — which cannot be used to identify you — may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

7. Your rights under POPIA

As a South African user, you have the following rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA):

Right to access — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Right to correction — you may request that inaccurate information be corrected.
Right to deletion — you may request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
Right to object — you may object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Right to complain — you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg@justice.gov.za.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the service at your own risk in this regard.

9. Children

Betty is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active users via WhatsApp or email. Continued use of Betty after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
